Phra Anandapanyo
Born and raised in San Francisco, California as Arnold Thian-Ngern, Phra Anadapanyo entered the order on May 20, 2009.
Throughout his life, Arnold was frequently found at Thai Buddhist temples, assisting revered monks throughout California and abroad. Arnold Thian-Ngern attended West Portal Lutheran for primary and secondary education and graduated from Lowell High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara and soon after completed his degree Masters in Business Administration. With a reputation for being charismatic and considerate, Arnold gained a wealth of life experiences before deciding to shed his t-shirt and jeans for saffron robes.
More of the panyavimutti (emancipation through wisdom) than the cetovimutti (liberation through insight), Arnold is well-known for his exceptionally deep and comprehensive insights and wisdom. As such, “Anandapanyo” or “infinite wisdom” is an appropriate name. Anandapanyo Bhikkhu, who is fluent in both Thai and English, continues to benefit our community through his work in translating and dispersing Buddha and Luang Por Thoon’s teachings.
Many of you who have come to Wat San Fran have probably met Phra Anandapanyo or also known as Phra Anan. He specializes in expounding and simplifying seemingly hard to grasp concepts. You might have heard him say, “It is so easy, it might just work.”
Phra Anandapanyo is also the webmaster and has helped set up both www.watsanfran.org and www.kpyusa.org.

พระ อานันทปัญโญ หรือ อาร์โนล์ด เทียนเงิน อุปสมบทเมื่อวันที่ 20 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552 พระอานันทปัญโญ เป็นชาวซานฟรานซิสโกโดยกำเนิด ตั้งแต่ชีวิตในวัยเด็ก ท่านเป็นผู้ที่ได้มีโอกาสเข้าวัดฟังธรรมและช่วยเหลือกิจของสงฆ์อย่างสม่ำ เสมอในเขตรัฐแคลิฟอร์เนียไปถึงประเทศไทย และเคยบรรพชาเป็นเณรภาคฤดูร้อนที่วัดสระปทุม โดยพระอาจารย์ถาวร เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2539 เป็นเวลา 1 พรรษา

ท่าน เป็นผู้ที่มีความโดดเด่นในการปฏิบัติในแนวปัญญาวิมุติ บรรดาญาติธรรมทั้งหลายล้วนเห็นพ้องตรงกันว่าท่านเป็นผู้ที่ความฉลาดหลักแหลม และเข้าใจหลักปฏิบัติในแนวนี้อย่างลึกซึ้ง ฉายา “อานันทปัญโญ” ซึ่งแปลว่า “ผู้ที่มีปัญญาเหลือประมาณ” จึงเป็นฉายาที่เหมาะสมกับท่านเป็นอย่างยิ่ง
พระ อานันทปัญโญเป็นผู้ ที่สามารถสื่อสารทั้งภาษาไทยและอังกฤษได้เป็นอย่างคล่องแคล่ว ท่านจึงเป็นกำลังสำคัญของพวกเราในหมู่ลูกศิษย์ของหลวงพ่อทูล ขิปปปัญโญ ที่จะเป็นผู้แปลและเผยแพร่คำสอนของหลวงพ่อสู่ชาวตะวันตก< /p>
