Magha Puja Day
Honoring the day in which four auspicious events occurred: On a full moon day, 1,250 of the Buddha’s disciples convened to see the Buddha without being summoned, all of them were Enlightened and had been ordained by the Buddha himself, the Buddha gave the “Ovadhapatimokha” outlining the principles of Buddhism.
This is the teaching in which the Buddha lays down the key principles and guidelines of Buddhism for both lay people and monks. One part of the teaching, which is considered the “Heart of Buddhism” states:
Cease to do evil,
Cultivate that which is good,
Purify the mind,
This is the teaching of Buddhas
Join us as we celebrate this auspicious day.
