SUMMARY:2019 KPY USA Dhamma Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Venerable Acariya Thoon Khippapanyo established the first KPY USA retreat 1999. Since then\, his dedicated \nfollowers have continued to produce the annual event at the KPY USA Retreat Center in Redwood Valley\, California. \nHowever\, as the 2017 Northern California wildfires severely damaged the sprawling property\, this year’s retreat will \nbe held at the temple in San Francisco. KPY USA retreats are a unique opportunity for people \nto learn how to alleviate their suffering and evolve into their best selves. \n  \nDuring the week-long event\, instructors \nequip participants with the tools they need to resolve their own sufferings and develop Right View. The Buddha’s \nteachings are activated through enlightening activities\, metaphors\, internalized parallels\, and a number of other \nwisdom-building techniques. SUMMARY:Observance of the Eight Precepts Days
DESCRIPTION:Buddhists often spend the Uposatha holy days wearing white and practicing the 8-precepts at the temple. With the Akaliko Women’s Residence finally ready to support a weekend of dedicated practitioners\, San Fran Dhammaram Temple was able to hold an Uposatha event for both of its male and female members. SFDT has instituted a monthly Uposatha observance program with the following dates. \nFriday\, April 19 – Monday\, April 22 \nEach program starts the night of the first date and ends the morning of the last date. Groups of 5 or more who seek to observe the 8-precepts on alternate dates may submit requests at the temple. You are welcome to bring your own sleeping bags and white clothes\, although you may also borrow or purchase from the temple’s supply. Reserve your spot asap\, as space is limited. \nEnsure that programs like these continue to be available by pledging a monthly donation. Donations can be made via PayPal or by mail (2645 Lincoln Way\, SF CA 94122). San Fran Dhammaram Temple is a registered 501©(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowable by the law.

DESCRIPTION:After our successful retreat in June\, we will be holding two special weekend mini retreats led by Phra Nut Nuttapanyo at our center in Redwood Valley\, CA in August and September. \nSeptember 23-24\, 2017 \nPlease sign-up here in advance. Limited carpool is provided on a first-come\, first-served basis. We expect a relatively small group (10-15 people). Self-driving is also welcome. \nWe will be probably leaving the city on Friday’s evening and coming back Sunday’s late afternoon.
