DESCRIPTION:Please join us in celebrating the end of the 2022 vassa (rains retreat) at San Fran Dhammaram Temple on Monday\, October 10. There will be a food offering at 11:00 a.m. and a Dhamma sermon at 11:15 a.m.  \nOn Tuesday\, October 11\, there will be a special post-vassa alms round in front of the temple at 10:45 a.m. in the Thai “Tak Bat Devo” tradition which commemorates the day in which the Buddha returned to Earth after blessing his mother and other celestial beings in the Tavatimsa heaven during his seventh vassa.

DESCRIPTION:We invite all faithful Buddhists to join us in sponsoring and making merit during San Fran\nDhammaram Temple’s 2021 Kathina. The fundraiser will be held at 9.00 a.m. on Sunday\, October 31 at 2645 Lincoln Way\, San Francisco\, CA 94122. \nDue to COVID-19 and a scheduling conflict with Outside Lands Music Festival\, we will not be able to hold our annual Kathina at the Hall of Flowers (Golden Gate Park) according to our usual custom. Therefore\, we will be holding the Kathina ceremony at the temple. Since the size of gathering at the temple is limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic\, we have determined that: \n1. This year’s Kathina will be a closed event\, and we will provide the live stream of the ceremony on YouTube Live (www.youtube.com/watsanfran) on October 31\, 2021 starting at 9:00 a.m. \n2. Faithful Buddhists are invited to gather in groups of no more than fifteen people to act as in-person sponsors\, donating Sangha robes\, Kathina contributions\, and other articles at the temple. We plan to welcome such groups between the hours of 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. from October 22 through October 30. We ask that those who are interested call ahead and reserve a time slot. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the Forest Robe Offering Ceremony for the restoration of the Akaliko Women’s Center. \n10:40 a.m. – Alms round\n11:00 a.m. – Meal offering / Dhamma talk\n12:15 p.m. – Paritta chanting by monks\n12.45 p.m. – Forest Robe Offering Ceremony / Monks give blessing \nIn 2015\, San Fran Dhammaram Temple purchased the building at 2701 Lincoln Way\, and it is becoming a women’s practice center called Akaliko\, where women and nuns can come and practice. However\, the building is over 100 years\, and there has been frequent and extensive flooding inside\, causing the wooden walls\, ceiling and floor to rot. For this reason\, the monks and directors of the temple are searching for ways to raise funds to pay for the expense of the restoration. \nWe invite you to be a sponsor of the August 2017 Forest Robe Offering Ceremony to help pay the expense of Akaliko’s restoration\, currently estimated at $215\,000. Any amount at all is appreciated; there is no minimum donation.
