Buddhists often spend the Uposatha holy days wearing white and practicing the 8-precepts at the temple. With the Akaliko Women’s Residence finally ready to support a weekend of dedicated practitioners, San Fran Dhammaram Temple was able to hold an Uposatha event for both of its male and female members. SFDT has instituted a monthly Uposatha observance program with the following dates.
Friday, April 19 – Monday, April 22
Each program starts the night of the first date and ends the morning of the last date. Groups of 5 or more who seek to observe the 8-precepts on alternate dates may submit requests at the temple. You are welcome to bring your own sleeping bags and white clothes, although you may also borrow or purchase from the temple’s supply. Reserve your spot asap, as space is limited.
Ensure that programs like these continue to be available by pledging a monthly donation. Donations can be made via PayPal or by mail (2645 Lincoln Way, SF CA 94122). San Fran Dhammaram Temple is a registered 501©(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowable by the law.
