SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The law of cause of effect is a central tenet of the Buddhist religion: the only way to achieve a desired effect is to put forth its corresponding cause. Correspondingly, we at SFDT believe that in order to create a lush and healthy landscape for posterity, it is crucial to plant and nurture trees with strong roots, now!

Our Thai school aims to plant these figurative trees in our community by passing on the best aspects of Thai culture while encouraging the best aspects of American culture in our multicultural children. Our language classes put Thai- Americans in touch with their parents’ roots and help them better communicate with their Thai speaking relatives and friends. Our music classes encourage self-expression and confidence while motivating those without Thai language skills to join in the community in order to gradually develop interests in language, culture, and religion.

CLASSES

Watsanfran School teaches the Thai language and musical instruments while incorporating Buddhist principles and Thai customs into the lesson plans in order to ensure the students come away with an understanding of what it means to be Thai.
